This was taken from the same square as the flag.

Check out the dimensions of the that large flag

Here we are in Mexico. We found out an interesting fact. This flag is one of 9- the 9 largest flags in Mexico. Only 9 Mexican cities have these large flags. Mexico City, Ensenada, and Veracruz are among them. (Shame on Jason for not taking a picture of the one in Veracruz.) It takes 40 members of the Mexican Military to take the flag down and put it up-more if it is rain soaked.

Cruise!!!

We had a great time on our 4 day cruise. We drove the 10 hours to Long beach and stayed in the Hyatt Sunday night. Monday we got on the boat and had a great time until we had to leave for good Friday morning. Above is a picture taken from the water as we rode back to the ship after our jaunt on Catalina Island.

Catalina is beautiful! We had a great time. Jason loved looking at all the boats and even saw one akin to the Northland.

Appliances!

So Jason got two BIG birthday presents this year-a cruise and a new dishwasher. Ours quit on us a couple weeks ago and it's been hard to keep up. I've been busier in Real Estate then I've ever been and am gone most of the day and evening. Jason has a general aversion to washing dishes so the dishes have piled up. We finally decided to replace the dishwasher and the broken microwave. So if you're going to get new, get stainless!!! (Especially when they are on SALE)For now we will have a dishwasher and microwave in stainless and a fridge that leaks and a range in white. Ce la vive! Appliances should be here and installed on his Birthday-Just before we go to Mexico! Whooo Hoooo!

tired tired sad tired tired

So Jason worked a day a night and a day this weekend and then worked 8 hours on Sunday only to find out today at work that they weren’t as close as he'd expected. He got bad news in the middle of the day from our mortgage debacle and could barely lift his pizza to eat tonight. We took a moment to relax and were talking and catching up on family blogs. I leaned in to cuddle and we hear creak, creak, crack. I quickly backed away and Jason readjusted. I thought it was safe....POP! Well there goes our old decrepit green couch. I guess it's not going anywhere but you will when you sit on it. You decidedly lean to the right. ha ha! Maybe we'll take a page out of Dan and Krystal's book and prop up that side with the plethora of blankets we have around the house.

Happy Story

So I got my pretty new phone on Saturday! It's RED to Jason's dismay, and is perfect now that I've wiped it clean of profanity. I got it for a third less by buying it on ebay. I'm very happy! =)

Yum Yum

I LOVE to cook and have been on a kick of trying to recreate food that you get at restaurants. It helps us save money and has been really rewarding. I've been able to recreate most aspects of my favorite Mexican chicken salads but could never get the lime rice quite right. I was watching the noon news and they spotlighted this recipe. I haven't tried it yet but I couldn't resist sharing it with the dressing that has also eluded me.

Lime Rice

1 c rice
1 T butter
2 cloves garlic
Zest of 1 lime
2 c chicken broth
Juice of one lime
3T chopped cilantro

Combine Butter garlic lime zest and broth. Boil and add rice. Reduce and simmer 15-20 minutes. Remove from heat and add lime and Cilantro.

Mexican Ranch

1 C buttermilk
3/4 c mayo
1/4 c cilantro
1 package ranch dressing
4T salsa verde
2 cloves garlic
1/2 t Tabasco
Juice of 1 lime

Blend in blender/food processer

Enjoy!
